Synopsis

Dan Baker is an ordinary plumber from Pacoima who finds himself swept into the mysterious timestream and thrust into random times and places which is not as fun as it sounds.  He meets Freddie Townes, a time jumper who's been marooned in the past for 27 years, and together they work to survive each new destination and learn to control their jumps.

Along the way, they encounter Chantelle, a brilliant time jumper who decides that Dan is the key to saving the universe—though saving the universe will probably kill him.  While she's willing to make the sacrifice to achieve her ultimate goal, Dan is not.

This winding tale follows Dan and Freddie from frozen wastelands to outer space and back to Earth as they ride the surf of time, eat sandwiches, fall in love, and try to avoid saving the universe.
