CHAPTER 22 - The Living Dreidel

Freddie again opted for the direct approach.  “Hello, there.”

Doug spun around, pointing a death ray at them. The weapon was brightly colored and elegant, but nevertheless a death ray.  Due to the fact that Doug was pointing this surely hostile device at him, it took Dan three full seconds to realize Doug was not human.

Doug was basically humanoid, with arms and legs, but grayish skin and no discernable neck.  His voice was also fairly high, which is odd for a no-neck being.  “What are you?”

Freddie answered.  “Humans.  What are you?”

“In a hurry.”

DOUG’S DEATH RAY

Is that Nikola Tesla’s death ray?  He said he devised a “teleforce” weapon that could repel ground-based infantry and shoot down airplanes from a distance of 250 miles.

Was Tesla in communication with aliens from other planets?  Was Tesla himself an alien?  Did Doug’s people touch down and steal Tesla’s blueprints for the death ray?  Is that how Doug came to have such a weapon in his hand to threaten Dan and Freddie?
